The problem
One trip, ten tabs.
Hikers and cyclists call planning places to sleep along a route a logistical puzzle. Because the route and the nights are never in the same place.
01
Where do I stop today?
Your route is in Komoot, but where you can sleep isn't. So every day you shift back and forth until there's a village with a bed nearby.
02
Is there still room, and for one night?
Searching each evening separately on Booking.com, campsite websites and directories. Calling, cancelling, and finding out the campsite is closed in autumn.
03
Where do I get food?
A supermarket or restaurant near your bed for the night, or a long stretch without any shop. You only find out when you get there.
04
How do I get there, and back home?
You only have a week. So where do you start, where do you stop, and how do you get there by train or get picked up?
How it works
From route to a good night’s sleep in three steps.
No spreadsheet, no separate searches. You see your whole trip in one overview, on the map.
- Step 01
Choose your route
Upload a GPX file from Komoot, Strava or Garmin, or choose a well-known route in the Netherlands or Belgium, such as the Pieterpad. All of it, or only the part you do this time.
- Step 02
Set your pace
Hiking or cycling, your experience level, minimum and maximum km per day, elevation gain, budget, the type of accommodation and what else you want to see.
- Step 03
Book your nights
Etaply plans the stages around real places to sleep. Prefer to sleep somewhere else? Pick it yourself and the following days adjust. Booking takes one click.
What a day looks like
Everything you need to know for each day, on one card.
Where you sleep and how far that is from your route. Where you shop for groceries along the way. And where you can eat in the evening.
Detour in km
For every place to sleep you see how far it is from your route.
Dates filled in
The booking link opens with the right night and the number of people.

No surprises
A warning when you won't pass a supermarket for a long time. Or switch off groceries and food if you only want to see your nights.

In parts
A section this year, the rest next year.
Not everyone walks 500 km in one go. Choose how much time you have and where you start. Etaply finds an end point from where it's easy to get home.
Start wherever you like
At the start of the route, a town or station along the route, or click on the map.
As many days as you have
Choose the number of days, kilometres or an end point. Etaply suggests an end point at a railway station.
There and back
By train or bus, being dropped off or picked up, parking or a taxi. Bringing a bike? You'll see the railway's rules in that country.
Suggestion
ExampleStart at Groningen station and stop at Ommen station. That is 139 km, about 6 days.

Pieterpad
The Pieterpad is one of the best-known long-distance walks in the Netherlands. It runs from Pieterburen, close to the Wadden Sea, through Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, Gelderland and Limburg to the Sint-Pietersberg near Maastricht. You walk through old villages, heathland, forests and along the Meuse, and most people walk it in separate sections, spread over one or more years.
